We’re on a mission to bring transparency, collaboration, and cooperation to writing and publishing, and we want you to join us.
What’s more impactful than learning from someone who’s already been where you are?
What’s more informative than hearing how people like you have already succeeded? And what’s more empowering than meeting people who share your goals and genuinely want to help you achieve them?
At field15, we’re building out an educational series designed to connect the dots, connect the thoughts, and connect the people who create and publish nonfiction content in all its forms.
We believe that through transparency, collaboration, and cooperation, we can level the playing field and give everyone a more equal shot at success.

In a world that’s obsessed with rapid growth and endless scale, we’re choosing a different path.
The heart of our series beats with virtual seminars and workshops made up of one or two presenters and no more than ten attendees. We’re aiming for maximum engagement and personal connections at every event. This isn’t corporate training for profit—it’s collaborative learning at a human scale.
Seminars are individual sessions that run from 30 to 45 minutes and strive for 60% presentation and 40% conversation. The focus is on well-defined topics with an extremely narrow scope so that attendees have a chance to really dig into the subject matter at hand. The goal of each seminar is to leave attendees with actionable knowledge that they can put into practice on their own.
Workshops span two to five sessions that each run from 45 to 90 minutes and strive for 60% presentation, 20% conversation, and 20% collaboration. Like seminars, workshops focus on well-defined topics with an extremely narrow scope. However, workshops also aim to help attendees produce something—a writing sample, an author statement, an article or book proposal, etc. The goal of each seminar is to leave attendees with actionable knowledge and an artifact that they can use as they move forward.
Nonfiction covers a lot of ground
This series is about bringing transparency, collaboration, and cooperation to nonfiction writing and publishing. It’s about sharing your knowledge and experience with people who want to do something you’ve already done or something you know about deeply.
We have ready-made audiences and partnerships across an extremely wide range of topics—history, performing arts, fine arts, technology, technical documentation, finance, politics, sociology, and much more.
We want to hear about any and all ideas you have, but, in general, most seminars and workshops should fall into one of three tracks below. If you’re passionate about something that falls outside of these tracks, though, we absolutely want to hear about it, too. Together, we’ll figure out the best way to integrate it into our regular programming.
Track 1
Industry Insights
Topics that cover the business of nonfiction writing and publishing (e.g., finding the right traditional publisher, crafting a book or article proposal, avoiding common contract pitfalls, developing alternative sales channels, navigating sublicenses and derivative works, understanding copyright, growing an acquisitions pipeline, changing distributors, etc.).
Track 2
Content Insights
Topics that cover the content creation process (e.g., communicating effectively about technology, art, history, law, politics, etc.; documenting processes and workflows clearly; relating complex information in a fun and engaging way; conducting meaningful interviews; telling someone else’s story respectfully; sharing information without giving away trade secrets; etc.).
Track 3
Personal Insights
Topics that convey your own personal story navigating some aspect of nonfiction writing and publishing (e.g., achieving career success through writing, growing an audience on social media, learning to open up publicly about your private life, recovering from a canceled book project, developing strategies for dealing with negative press, overcoming proposal rejection, etc.).
Even very small philanthropic efforts can pay off big: for you, for your community, and for the world.
All events will provide you with a platform to showcase your work, your knowledge, and yourself. The spotlight will be on you, and you’ll be free to link to, promote, and amplify whatever you choose. From your own books, articles, and business to your social media accounts, websites, and employer, it’s all fair game, and it’s all entirely up to you.
But don’t worry, you aren’t in it alone. We’ll be hard at work promoting both you and your events for maximum impact and exposure.
We believe in what you have to share, and it’s our job to make sure people know about what you’re doing. We may coordinate with external groups and organizations on your behalf. We may write a series of blog posts in support of your topic. We may run a promotional campaign on social media. Or we may do all of the above.
But that’s just the beginning.
If you participate in fee-based events or if your contributions lead to derivative works that generate income of their own, you’ll be eligible to take part in a 50% share of profits set aside for contributors.
In other words, if you are the sole presenter at a fee-based event that generates $2,000 worth of profit, you’ll be paid $1,000 for your contribution. If you have a co-presenter at your event, you and your co-presenter will decide how to split the 50% share of profits set aside for contributors.
There are many ways to engage with this series and many benefits both for yourself and the world at large. It’s up to you to decide how far you want to go.
We’re excited to meet you, and we’re even more excited to introduce you to the world.
