We’ve worked on sites and applications for a wide range of clients over the years, and although each project has had its own personality and list of requirements, they've all boiled down to one thing—a seamless end-product that grabs attention. This is a simple concept at heart, but understanding different audiences, styles, and needs is something that only comes with experience. We have the know-how to help you create a modern, standards-driven, custom design that will fit your niche.
But the look of a design is only one piece of the puzzle—your website also has to work. Frustrated users will just move on to another site, and once they're gone, they're probably not coming back. Our design and technical teams work together from the start for that very reason. We'll make sure that your users' experiences are intuitive, engaging, and easy.
And, when it comes to development projects, our philosophy is simple: use the right tool for the right job. We’re not going to suggest a language, framework, or interface simply because we’d like to add something new to our portfolio or because it’s the latest technical fad. Don’t take that to mean that we just ignore all of the latest and greatest trends in development, though—sometimes the greatest techniques really are the latest! But, before we recommend any solutions to you, you can be sure that we've carefully researched and tested them ourselves first.

We've worked with a ton of technologies over the past thirteen years, and we know that sometimes you need to integrate with systems you already have in place. We're capable of partnering with just about anyone on anything, but in general, our greatest strengths are in open source web development, using languages like Perl, PHP, Python, and Ruby, frameworks like CakePHP, Catalyst, Django, and Rails, and databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL. We also have extensive WordPress and Joomla experience. On the front-end, we focus on XHTML and standards-based CSS, HTML5 (particularly for mobile), and a mix of custom JavaScript and jQuery. And, because we've been working with the federal government for so many years, we also understand the ins and outs of Section 508 compliance and usability issues to deliver your content to audiences of all types.

Yayasan Jembatan Masa Depan (JMD)
JMD was created in 2005 to help Indonesians affected by the 2004
tsunami, and field15 was asked to design a new
website that would appeal more to Indonesian visitors. One
of the most important hurdles that had to be overcome was a language
barrier, so we worked with JMD, a PR company, and a translation company
to have all the pages translated from English to Bahasa Indonesian. From
there, we wrote a tool that detects which language the visitor is most
likely to want to see the site in and then displays that version of the
site. This website needed to be accessible to all users as quickly as
possible, and this was a great way to accomplish that.

Winter Growth, Inc.
Winter Growth was started in 1979 to help provide adult day services
to senior and disabled adults in the Washington, DC, area. Over the years,
Winter Growth has expanded to three Centers, and field15 was asked to
develop a WordPress-based site to help the organization reach a wider
group of potential participants. One of the key goals of the project
was to create an easy-to-use WordPress admin section that would allow
staff members to make simple site updates themselves. We recognized, though,
that a CMS can be confusing for a lot of users, so we simplified
the steps they'd need to take to update the navigation bar, page images,
text, and other basic WordPress tasks.

League of American Orchestras
Founded in 1942 and chartered by Congress in 1962, the League is the
premier American organization dedicated to advancing the orchestral
experience. Along with its national conference, fellowship programs,
and award winning magazine, the League produces significant research
related to its 850+ member orchestras. The Orchestra Statistical Report
(OSR), an online survey of over 1600+ data points, lies at the heart of
that research. field15 worked with the League to re-design and develop
a modern and secure version of the survey that was intuitive for the
orchestras to complete and easy for the League to update and maintain.
